Most of those who gamble at the casinos in Goa are wealthy with plenty of black money and deal mainly in cash. The entry fee at the casinos itself is more than Rs 1000, which only those with plenty of money can afford to spend. It was reported in the media that after demonetization was announced the number of visitors in the casinos decreased significantly . For a period of time, there were also reports that the casinos in goa may reduce their staff if the decrease in customers continued. However now it appears that the situation is slowly returning to normal as a new stock of black money is being created again as bribe taking continues.
One of the major casino companies is also listed in the stock exchange, and after demonetization was announced, the share prices of the casino company declined rapidly as a large amount of cash was spent in the casino.
